Michelle is an audiovisual media designer from Zurich. Her works are characterised by influences from her day-to-day life, pop culture and the latest fashion trends.

“I wanted to come up with a design that would spark conversation on the issues of safer sex and consent, but in a playful way. Anyone who hands someone a condom with the word “Smash!” written on it is sending a clear but endearing message. In terms of design, I was inspired by the Y2K trend – especially iron-on transfers and the current upcycling revival in the fashion world.”

Hank is from 8600 Dübendorf and has been battling their way through the swamps of the internet as HANK Services ever since 2019. Between open-source fonts and old cartoons, ideas are born that test the audience’s patience and want to take them on a journey.

“The design is simple and clear. It shows people how easy it is for them to protect themselves– without lecturing them or making them feel ashamed.”

Andrea, from Vollgas Studio, is an illustrator from Zurich who addresses the topics of feminism, queerness and sexuality in a funny, yet critical way.

“My design is a humorous anecdote for the visibility of the phallus in our everyday lives. We are surrounded by objects and buildings that, whether intentionally or unintentionally, represent the power of the patriarchy in a massive way. I take a rather tongue-in-cheek approach to this and use the image of the condom as protection against this system.”
